State-of-the-art test equipment is used at the R & D department both in order to establish the physical as well as chemical parameters of the raw materials used and in the course of product development. For example, Sika Werke GmbH has two tensile load measurement devices at its disposal with which it can establish the mechanical parameters of the composite foils produced at the company, such as e.g. extension, tensile strength and composite bond strength. For the purpose of research and testing of new composites, the R & D department has, among other equipments, an IR spectrometer and a climate chamber as well as a large number of foil testing devices and methods for the determination of specific foil and adhesive parameters at its disposal.

For the development of innovative products, Sika Werke GmbH uses the diverse co-operations with research institutions and universities in Saxony.
